Program Overview

After school is divided into two periods. PM 1 runs from 2:34-3:15 and PM 2 is from 3:25 until 4:09. Some activities run during both periods, some activities are one period long. Students must be under the direct supervision of an adult at all times or leave school premises. Bus transportation is provided at 4:21 for bus riders who have participated in a supervised after school activity. Students must have an after school activity pass, issued by a staff member, in order to board the bus. Students remaining at school after 4:30 p.m. should call a parent or guardian to be picked up at the main entrance of the school (Entrance #1, near the Office and Library).

Picking your student up: After school activities in the school building (clubs and sports practices) end at 4:09 and all students should be picked up by 4:30 p.m. Students who cannot be picked up by 4:30 p.m. should either enroll in the  Check-In program (open until 6:00 p.m.) or register for the After School Activity Program program at the Recreation Center (open for drop in between 4:30 and 6:00 p.m.).

Late Buses: The late buses operate Monday-Friday when there are scheduled after school activities. The late bus routes are different from the morning and after school bus routes; please be sure to review the late bus routes with your student. Students must have a pass issued by an adult in order to board the late bus. This pass system helps us provide appropriate after school supervision. Students who do not have a bus pass may need to call their parent/guardian for transportation. Repeated violation of the bus pass requirement may result in suspension from after school activities.

Sports Buses: On days there are athletic contests, a second late bus, known as the sports bus, is available. Only athletes from the participating teams may ride the sports bus. The sports bus leaves school shortly after the conclusion of the event.

Evening events: All students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to evening events at school. Unaccompanied students will be required to call a parent or guardian to be picked up.

How do I know what is going on?

There are several ways to find out:

  • Checking the weekly list of after-school activities.
  • Checking the TV screens located in the Theater I Lobby and above the door to the Main Office.
  • Listen to the morning announcements during TA.
  • Checking the APS SchoolTalk message that goes out every Friday afternoon with a list of the following week’s activities. (Be sure your email is correct in ParentVUE in order to receive SchoolTalk messages from the school.)
  • Checking signs posted around the building.
