Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is a regional Governor’s School for students who are passionate about STEM and want to challenge themselves in this field of study. The mission of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is to provide students with a challenging learning environment focused on math, science, and technology, to inspire joy at the prospect of discovery, and to foster a culture of innovation based on ethical behavior and the shared interests of humanity.

The TJHSST application for the Class of 2024 is currently available for interested students. The deadline for applications is just around the corner! Final applications are due on Friday, September 27 by 4:00 pm. **In order to ensure that Ms. Kolody has time to finalize the application submission for you, submit your portion no later than September 26! See an overview of the application process and access the initial application, here.

8th graders who are interested in applying to TJHSST, the IB Program, or other selective high school programs: Ms. Cottrell will be forming a special group to prepare for the admissions process, essay questions, and self-reflection.

Participants will tap into resources from Gifted Services, classmates, and connect with Gunston alumni who are currently enrolled at TJHSST or in other selective programs.

Support may include:
– Preparing for essay questions:
– Considering if a selective program is right for you
– Finding a good fit for a high school program, which may or may not be TJHSST
– Developing an action and accountability plan for practicing, soliciting letters of recommendation, etc.
– Chatting via Skype or Google Hangout with a Gunston alumna/current TJHSST student
