Congratulations to the Gunston MS winners of the 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary and Visual Arts Contest.
Twenty-four entries were chosen in this year’s contest out of 500 students from various schools and programs in Arlington Public Schools. This annual contest is dedicated to honoring the legacy of Dr. King and showcasing the talent and creativity of our students in expressing their thoughts on Dr. King’s leadership traits. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a cornerstone of the civil rights movement, celebrated for his intelligence and unwavering determination.
This year, students were asked to reflect on Dr. King’s leadership traits and express which one impacted them the most, through writing or art, highlighting its influence on community or society.
The following students have been recognized as Literary winners this year:
- First Place: Nathan Goldstein, Gunston Middle School (Spanish Immersion)8th Grade
- Second Place: Juliette Gil, Gunston Middle School, 8th Grade
The winners will be recognized during the Thu, Jan. 25 School Board Meeting.
