Principal Welcome Message

Dear Gunston Middle School Families and Community Members,

It is an honor to lead Gunston for another amazing school year. In alignment with Arlington Public School’s strategic plan goals, this year, we will be focusing on Student Academic Growth, Success and Well-being, and fostering a Student-Centered Workforce to support outcomes and long-term goals that are deeply connected to our mission and vision. My priorities remain steadfast: instilling a love of learning, preparing our students for the 21st century, and ensuring that our education is culturally responsive and inclusive.

As we move into the 2024-25 school year, I am dedicated to building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the community to ensure every scholar feels seen, heard, and safe. I am excited to meet everyone and learn how we can best support our students’ academic and social-emotional development. My commitment is to support every student by name, strength, and need, while appreciating and celebrating the contributions, successes, and unseen gifts each student brings daily.

To uphold educational excellence at Gunston and enhance our diverse offerings, I am committed to collaborating with our knowledgeable administrative, teaching, and support staff to meet the needs of all students. And let me tell you, we have an amazing, dedicated, and caring team here at Gunston! Together, we’re not just aiming for a successful year—we’re aiming for a year full of energy, creativity, and yes, a lot of fun too! We’ll be working hard, but we’ll also be making sure that our students (and staff) enjoy the journey.

We look forward to families joining the Gunston PTA, Padres Latinos, GMS volunteers or the Family and Community Engagement Action Team as we continue to build our legacy through community. Please look for more school information on our website and social media throughout the school year.  I look forward to years of celebrating success and keeping our students at the heart of everything we do.

Sincerely,

Carolyn R. Jackson
