Science Fair 2025

This year, Gunston Middle School will be holding its annual Science Fair on Thursday, January 16th, 2025. All sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students may participate in the GMS Science Fair. The top competitors will be eligible to participate in the Northern Virginia Regional Science and Engineering Fair. The science fair is not mandatory, but all eighth grade students need to complete an independent capstone science project. Their science fair project can be used as their independent capstone science project.  All work for the science fair must be done at home or during office hours with a teacher after school.

Students who are interested in competing and having their project judged must research their idea and communicate their interest to their science teacher by Friday, October 11th. Once committed, your science teacher will enroll you in the GMS Science Fair Canvas Course. The first meeting for participating students will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, at 2:40 pm in Mr. Hiebert’s room 123A.

If you have any questions, please contact your science teacher, or the Science Fair Director, Peter Hiebert, at peter.hiebert@apsva.us.
