Greetings Gunston Families,

It is with both a heavy heart and an excited heart that I share with the Gunston Garden that I was appointed to serve as the principal at Arlington Community High School for next school year at the school board meeting last night.

My heart is heavy because I love the Gunston community. I am so fortunate to have been here as long as I have, to have been able to grow and develop into a better school leader, and to have made such great connections. I regularly say in my messages that your children are amazing and the work that the staff does here is amazing. It is hard to leave a place you love and a community you love. My dad would always tell me that I should leave a place better than I found it. I know that I am leaving better and I think I will have made Gunston better after 11 years of service to this community.

My heart is equally excited for the opportunity to continue to work as a school leader in APS. I appreciate being asked to use my strengths, talents, and passion to serve another community with an equity-minded focus. I will be able to bring my passion and persistence, with the nuances and knowledge of APS and with the lessons that have improved my leadership skills from my journey at Gunston, to another school community.

The good news is that we still have time to work together, until the end of this school year! I will be cherishing the moments that are still to come and have begun looking fondly upon the memories that have already been created. Again, I love this community, feel seen, valued and loved in return. Thank you.
